2025 February Military Remembrances: Honoring Service and Sacrifice. In February 2025, we honor military remembrances by recognizing the service and sacrifice of those who have bravely defended our nation. Their commitment to protecting our freedoms and ensuring our safety deserves our deepest gratitude and respect. This month is an important time to reflect on the courage of those in uniform, past and present, and the sacrifices made by their families. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to educate future generations about the significance of their contributions and the enduring values of duty, honor, and country. Together, we pay tribute to these heroes, ensuring their legacy is never forgotten.
February 3, 2025: Four Chaplains Day
Every year on February 3, we observe Four Chaplains Day to honor the heroic actions of four U.S. Army chaplains during World War II. On February 3, 1943, aboard the USAT Dorchester, these chaplains—Lieutenant George L. Fox (Methodist), Lieutenant Alexander D. Goode (Jewish), Lieutenant John P. Washington (Catholic), and Lieutenant Clark V. Poling (Reformed Church in America)—sacrificed their lives to save others.
After a German submarine torpedoed the ship, the chaplains distributed life jackets and guided soldiers to safety. When the jackets ran out, they gave up their own, joining hands in prayer as the ship sank into icy waters. Their selflessness embodies unity, sacrifice, and faith.
In 1988, Congress established Four Chaplains Day to honor their legacy and the values they upheld.

February 4, 2025: Celebrating the USO’s Legacy of Support
On February 4, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the United Service Organizations (USO) to support American service members during World War II. From the start of the war, the USO played a vital role in connecting troops with their loved ones. Entertainment tours, care packages, and welcoming centers boosted morale and provided essential resources.
Over the years, the USO has adapted to meet the evolving needs of service members and their families. Whether during deployments, homecomings, or times of transition, it offers unwavering support. The USO continues its mission today, ensuring service members remain connected to their families, homes, and country.
By honoring this legacy, we celebrate the impact of the USO on generations of military families and the enduring bonds it helps maintain.
